§ 28-19. Abatement by city.

(a)

In the event that, at the time specified in the notice of section 28-17, the nuisance has not been removed, suppressed or abated, or in the case of an unsafe building or structure, the unsafe building or structure is not demolished or the repair work is not performed within the time as required by the building official or the code enforcement board, the building official may cause the demolition, repair or other work, including but not limited to removal or boarding, to be performed by independent contractors, city employees or other such qualified means, as available.

(b)

The building official may also initiate prosecution for violation of this chapter.

(c)

The building official may temporarily defer demolition, repair or removal work when it is in the best interest of the city to do so.
