Article II. ALARM SYSTEMS |
§ 16-26. Definitions.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Alarm system means any assembly of equipment, mechanical or electrical, arranged to signal the occurrence of an illegal entry or attempted illegal entry or other activity requiring emergency attention and to which the police are expected to respond, including automatic dialing devices.
Alarm user means the person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company or organization of any kind in control of any building, structure or facility wherein an alarm system is maintained.
Audible alarm means an alarm system that emits an audible signal that may be heard by persons outside the protected building, structure or facility.
Automatic dialing device means a device which is interconnected to a telephone line and is programmed to select a predetermined telephone number and transmit by voice message indicating a need for emergency response.
False alarm means an alarm signal eliciting a response by the police when a situation requiring response by the police does not in fact exist, but does not include an alarm signal caused by violent conditions of nature or other extraordinary circumstances not reasonably subject to control by the alarm user.
